The majority of Tempus' concerts are performed in churches, although with the variety offered with a brass quintet we have performed everywhere from a large muddy field in Lancashire to the foyer of the Bridgewater Hall!
We provide two halves (forty minutes) of varied music, featuring each member of the ensemble individually and showing the breadth of the brass quintet repertoire (whilst stealing shamelessly from Opera Arias, String Quartets, Jazz and Pop music). This is our normal format, although we are flexible about timings if this doesn't fit with your concert requirements.
Our library is now of a size that we can perform themed concerts i.e. “Classics by Candlelight” featuring works by Handel, Purcell and Mozart. We have a number of experienced arrangers in the group and can perform requests (if given enough notice) to tailor each concert to its audience and venue.
Most chamber ensembles sit throughout a performance, but we at Tempus got tired of that very quickly. We now perform baroque works antiphonally (a player in each corner of the building) giving surround sound entertainment, as well as walking in to music and moving around during pieces. We feel this provides all round entertainment, but more to the point, audiences love it (in our experience), and so we intend to uphold this Tempus tradition. |
